North American Union
It's not North American or a Union. It's whatever remains of Canada and the USA after World War III and the great environmental collapse. Officially, NAU claims the former territories of both former countries, but in practice, the NAU doesn't hold much direct power in the Deep South or the Savannah states of the Midwest.
NAU is a strange nation. It's the forerunner of the widespread social, economic, and ecological collapse. Early 21st-century disasters haven't healed, and probably never will. On the other hand, the NAU has a large influence on global politics. It's a collapsing giant, but it won't go down in history without a fight.
Pan-Asian Socialist Alliance
China, Vietnam, North Korea, and Laos created a unified front during World War III. It was never meant as a distinct political identity or a permanent union. Technically and somewhat officially, all the member nations are independent. In practice, the Alliance has succeeded the individual members.
Darklight
A collection of people from all walks of political life. Academia, the deep state, the military, and corporations all participated in the Darklight project.
Darklight isn't a conspiracy as much as it's an accident. It saw the first light as a US Government contingency planning, but it quickly grew larger than anticipated. The project gave a platform for many people who had grown disillusioned with politics and the inefficiency of both government and corporations.
The group became an open secret in time, and their presence is both a blessing and a curse. But few city-states and functional nations can resist their help. There is a power in finance and connections, and the Darklight has them all.
